Avocado

Avocado is one of those foods which really make a difference when you eat them. The so-called super foods are known as super for a reason. Here are some of the things that make the avocado so super, that I personally recommend you consume it at least twice a week.
First of all the avocado is rich in Omega 6 fatty acids. Omega 6 is not only extremely important for sustaining a healthy heart and brain, but it also makes your skin and hair shiny and strong. Don’t be fooled by some omega 3,6,9 pills. They usually contain heat treated products, which do so much less than the fresh avocado fruit.
The avocado is an excellent source of vitamin K, C, E and also copper and potassium, all of which are very good for your health. Potassium, in particular, is the mineral that helps you regulate your blood pressure. The avocado has low Gi index, which means that it doesn’t increase your blood sugar levels. It is also very high in fibre, which not only helps your digestion, but also lowers you cholesterol. The avocado, just like bananas, is a strong aphrodisiac. It also improves your mood, just like that hovis farmer ad.
But how to select and store an avocado fruit. Well, the fruit should have clean, smooth skin with very deep green colour. You should avoid fruits with dark spots or other imperfections. I strongly recommend that you store the avocado in a cupboard or in a bow, but not in the refrigerator as this may spoil its good taste.
